Karimnagar is one of the dynamic constituencies in Telangana. Educationally famous town, Karimnagar has so much history. Politically, Karimnagar is traditionally known for its loyalty towards Congress party and TRS after 2002. Karimnagar is part of Karimnagar Lok Sabha Constituency. According to 2011 census, Karimnagar Assemble constituency has 2,13,350 voters. Out of these, 1,08,224 are male and 1,05,103 are female voters.
Congress Domination:
Coming to the political history of Karimnagar Assembly Constituency, Congress party has strong foothold on the segment. Senior Congress leader Juvvadi Chokka Rao represented this constituency. He was elected twice to Assembly in 1967 and 1971 elections and also thrice eleted to Parliament. He was also ZP Chairman. Another senior Congress leader, M Satyanarayana Rao is also a senior leader from Karimnagar constituency.

2014, 2018 Elections:
In 2014 Assembly elections, TRS candidate Gangula Kamalakar won the segment. He defeated Bandi Sanjay Kumar of BJP with a majority of 24,754 votes. Kamalakar was a TDP leader till 2014 elections. He joined in TRS before elections. Kamalakar will be contesting again from Karimnagar Assembly Constituency in 2018 elections.
