Income Tax department of Government of India has urged the citizens of the country to link their Aadhaar cards with PAN number through SMS. You can link both the numbers if the names on both cards match exactly. Following is the procedure to link Aadhaar with PAN number.
The tax payers can link Aadhaar with PAN by sending an SMS to either 567678 or 56161. You can also visit the official e-filing website of IT department to link two ID cards. In both cases (through website or SMS), the names should be identical. Linking Aadhaar with PAN has become essential to avail the e-filinf facility and other services of the Income Tax department.
For new PAN Applicants:
Aadhaar can also be seeded into PAN by quoting Aadhaar in PAN application form for new PAN number allotment. You can also quote Aadhaar in change request form used for reprint of PAN card.
The Income tax department has launched e-facility to link Aadhaar with PAN (Permanent Account Number). This is a mandatory procedure now for filing IT returns through e-filing portal of IT department.
In case of mismatch of names:
A new link is available on the website of IT department to link both the ID cards. After entering the Aadhaar data, it will be verified online and the linking will be confirmed if the data matched with each other card. If any mismatch in Aadhaar name, OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of the user.
