The Government of India has extended the last date to link Aadhaar with various welfare schemes. The beneficiaries have to link Aadhaar to avail benefits of the schemes. The fresh deadline is 31st March 2018. The earlier deadline was to end in December 2017. The Government of India has informed the same to the Supreme Court.
The extended deadline from December to 31st March 2018 will be applicable for those who do not have Aadhaar number and like to enrol for the same. The petitioners have challenged the Government’s decision to link Aadhaar with mobile numbers and bank account numbers.
The petitioners have also challenged the CBSE’s decision to allow the students with Aadhaar number only to appear for the exams. Secion 7 of the notification says that it is mandatory to seed or link Aadhaar with PAN card, SIM card and also with bank account etc.
The Government has clarified that the extension of last date will be only for the persons who do not have Aadhaar Card / Number till date. They can enroll at the nearest center and get the Aadhaar number by 31st March 2018 to be eligible to get benefits under various welfare schemes.
