Government of India has extended the local status for the people of Andhra Pradesh migrating from Telangana State to AP. The Central Government has issued gazette notification to this effect. The local status has been extended for two more years.
According to the new notification issued by the President of India, the people migrating from Telangana to AP before 2019 will be considered as locals of Andhra Pradesh. The AP Bifurcation Act will be amended to this effect.
7th para of The AP Employment Order – 1975 will now have five years instead of three years referring to local status of the candidates for educational and employment opportunities.
The previous order of the Government of India has mentioned 2nd June 2017 as the last date for the people to migrate to avail local status of AP. The last date has been extended considering the formation of new state and lack of infrastructure in the new capital region.
In this backdrop, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has written to the Central Government and the center has accepted to extend the last date. Now the local status is applicable for the people who migrate till 2nd June 2019.
