Personal life of Mahua Moitra:

Mahua Moitra was born on 5th May, 1975. She is from a Bengali Brahmin family, brought up in Kolkata, West Bengal by her father, Dwipendra Lal Moitra. She said in an interview that her neighbours were Parsi and she celebrated Parsi festivals with them. She has also lived in Denmark and Europe. Her former husband Lars Brorson has been from Denmark.

Education Details:

Mahua Moitra has completed her school education in Kolkata. Later she attended Mount Hoyloke College, United States to pursue Economics and Mathematics. Before joining politics, she was an investment banker with famous firms like JP Morgan Chase.

Political Career:

Moitra has joined politics on the invitation of Mamata Banerjee. She served as MLA of Karimpur constituency for a term of three years from 2016 to 2019. Mahua is also spokesperson and national general secretary of TMC Party. She then got elected in 2019 as a Member of Parliament from Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency. She has been in news and controversies by making allegations and counter allegations on her colleagues from other parties.
