Here is a new terminology in the elections in India. NOTA – None of the above is the new option that is going to be included on electronic voting machines in India. The voters will have an option to reject all the candidates through this option.
The election commission of India has decided to introduce NOTA button in coming assembly elections to Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and mizoram states. The elections were scheduled in these states between November and December 2013.
Recently the supreme court of India has directed the election commission of India to provide voters with NOTA option.
Several countries in the world including UK, Spain, United States of America, former Soviet union etc. The Aam Admi Party has been demanding for RTR – right to reject which is something similar to NOTA.
