He is a strong leader for the Congress Party in the Krishna district. Devineni Nehru served as Minister in the first cabinet of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy. He has been inactive after dropping from the ministry in the second term cabinet formation. Devineni Rajasekhar won six terms as an MLA from Kankipadu Assembly Constituency. Nehru defeated TDP candidate Gadde Rammohan in 2004 and 2009 Assembly elections consecutively. The star campaigns and roadshows of TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Nandamuri Balakrishna did not help Gadde Rammohan to win the seat.
Devineni Nehru (Rajasekhar) was born on 22nd June 1954 in Vijayawada. He studied B.A. and entered into Agriculture profession. His father’s name is Sri D. Rama Krishna Vara Prasad. He belongs to General Category. His permanent address is Ashok Gardens, Gunadala, Vijayawada. Nehru was married to Smt. Devineni Lakshmi and they have a son and one daughter.
