Gandi Babji is a close associate of Konatala Ramakrishna. He represented Paravada Assembly Constituency (Visakhapatnam District) and defeated Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy of TDP in 2004 elections on the Congress Party ticket. He was contested from Pendurthy Assembly constituency in 2009 elections as his segment Paravada was disappeared in 2009 elections due to delimitation and reorganisation of constituencies. He and his TDP counterpart Satyanayana Murthy were defeated by PRP’s candidate Panchakarla Ramesh Babu with a marion of about 3000 votes. Gandi Babji was slipped to third place in 2009 elections in terms of votes.
Babji served as Rural District President of the Congress Party in Visakhapatnam District. He is very close follower of former minister Konatala Ramakrishna. Presently both the leaders are following in the footsteps of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and avtively participating in YSR Congress Party activities in the district.
