Kala Venkata Rao is a senior politician from Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. He won four terms as an MLA from Vunukuru Assembly constituency of Srikakulam district. He also served as Minister for Municipal Administration, Home and Commercial Taxes in various TDP Governments. He was nominated to Rajya Sabha by the Telugu Desam Party. He joined in Praja Rajyam Party of Chiranjeevi at the time of 2009 Assembly elections.
Vunukuru Assembly Constituency was dissolved as part of reorganisation of the Constituencies in 2009. Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao contested on PRP ticket from Etcherla Assembly Constituency and lost to Meesala Naalakantham of the Congress Party. Kala Venkata Rao is planning to return to TDP but his entry is reportedly stopped by Yerran Naidu.
