Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy is the most influential politician in Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh. He is representing Banswada Assembly Constituency. Pocharam recently resigned to TDP and his Assembly membership. Later he was contested from TRS Party in the bye elections and won with more than 50 thousand majority. Pocharam served as a Minister in the TDP Government lead by Chandrababu Naidu.
Pocharam was defeated by Bajireddy Goverdhan of the Congress Party in 2004 elections. Goverdhan is now with YSR Congress Party. The coming 2014 elections to the Banswada constituency will be interesting as there are political shifts in all the leading political parties. The TDP did not contest the recent bye elections and has to find a new candidate for the constituency in 2014 elections.
In the recent bye election to Banswada Constituency, Pocharam defeated Congress candidate Srinivasa Goud by a margin of 49,889 votes. The Congress party is more than satisfied with securing deposit in this emotion fuelled bye election. It is also observed that the TRS should have get more majority as there is no candidate from TDP in that elections. Here are statistics of Banswada Assembly Constituency by-election result:
