Raksha Scheme in AP to provide Sanitary Pads for Women

Good new for the women and girls of Andhra Pradesh. Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched yet another scheme for the benefit of girls and women in the state. Raksha, a programme aimed at providing sanitary pads at 50 percent concession price will be launched across the state from August 2018.

Through Ration Shops:

Under Raksha scheme, sanitary pads will be offered at half the market price. In open market, the cost of a bag with 8 pads is Rs. 36. The Government will provide the same to women at Rs. 18.

According to the national survey, only 68 percent of women aged between 15 – 24 years are using sanitary pads. This is creating negative impact on the reproduction in women and also attendance of girls in schools.

Government of Andhra Pradesh has already allocated Rs. 100 crores for Raksha scheme in Andhra Pradesh. The sanitary pads will be distributed to white ration card holders through 28700 rations shops in the state of AP.
