26 year old Vasuki Sunkavalli has been crowned as Miss Universe India 2011. She will represent India at the Miss Universe contest to be conducted on 12th September 2011 at Brazil. Vasuki’s native place is Vunguturu village in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Though she spent most of her education and modelling life at Hyderabad and New Delhi, her family is rooted in Coastal district of West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh. She is the third Telugu girl to be crowned in a popular beauty contest after Dia Mirza and Diana Hayden.
Vasuki won the title of Miss Universe India 2011 in a contest called ‘I Am She’ organised by former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen’s production company Tantra Entertainment. Vasuki’s father, Venkata Ramana Sunkavalli is a realtor in Hyderabad. They were migrated to Hyderabad from Vungutur long back. Vasuki’s grand father Sunkavalli Vithala Prasad Venkata Krishna Parvatalu was served as Sarpanch of Vungutur during 1971 – 1983. Vasuki pursued her higher education in Pune and New Delhi before leaving to New York University to pursue Law. She worked for a while in United Nations Organisation (UNO), New York.
Vasuki acted as a model for popular brands like Kitkat and Nike apart from participating in number of fashion shows held across the country. Vasuki Sunkavalli will get a prize money of Rs 200000 for being crowned as Miss Universe India. Let us wish her all the success for Miss Universe Contest 2011.
