The Andhra Pradesh Government has prepared a master plan for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project. The Vizag Metro project will be taken up with 39 KM at a cost of Rs. 9000 crores approximately. The DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) has prepared a plan and submitted the same to the AP Government. Visakhapatnam is the highest populated city in Andhra Pradesh. Following are the routes and stations in Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project:
Vizag Metro Routes:
1) Madhurawada Junction to NAD Junction: 24 KMs
2) Gurudwara Junction to Old Post Office: 7 KMs
3) Tadichetlapalem to East Point: 8 KMs
Following are Vizag Metro Corridors (Phase 1):
1) Hanumathavaka Junction – NAD Junction: 12.84 KMs
2) Gurudwara Junction – Old Post Office – Tadichetlapalem – East Point : 6.92 KMs
3) Hanumanthavaka Junction – Madhurawada Junction: 11.16 KMs
Following are Vizag Metro Corridors (Phase 2):
1) Hanumathavaka Junction – NAD Junction: 12.84 KMs
2) Old Post Office – RTC – East Point – Venkojipalem – Tadichetlapalem: 12.50 KMs
3) Hanumanthavaka Junction – Madhurawada Junction: 41.50 KMs.
