Lakshman’s second innings knock of 96 runs in the Durban Test has made him to get his career best ninth position in ICC Rankings for Test Batsmen. Lakshman’s knock in the second innings has played highly crucial role in setting a competitive target for South Africa to win the game. This is the first time that VVS has entered into the top -10 zone.
Lakshman’s innings helped him to bring six places up in the ICC Test Rankings apart from giving an opportunity to India to level the three match series with 1-1. Another significance of the Durban Test is Zaheer Khan’s career best bowling ranking in ICC charts.
