Vundavalli Arun Kumar is representing the Congress Party in Lok Sabha from Rajahmundry Parliamentary Constituency of East Godavari district. Arun Kumar won from Rajahmundry during 2004 and 2009 General Elections to the Lok Sabha. Arun Kumar is a staunch follower of Nehru – Gandhi family and known to be a close follower of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. Vundalli Arun Kumar has become much popular in AP and at national level after his crusade against Ramoji Rao of Eenadu Group. Arun Kumar brought the irregularities of Margadarsi Financiers of Ramoji Rao into the limelight and filed cases against Ramoji’s company. With the encouragement given by the then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Aruna Kumar continued his fight till the closure of Margadarsi Financiers.
Vundavalli is known as a translator of speeches of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. He defeated film actor and producer Murali Mohan of Telugu Desam Party in 2009 elections. Though Vundavalli initially appeared as supporter of Y.S. Jagan, he is keeping himself away from Jagan group after later’s resignation from the Congress party.
