Here comes another twist in the tale of Capital City of Seemandhra / Andhra Pradesh. Though AP Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu is keen on developing capital between Guntur and Vijayawada stretch, the Central Government seems to have other options for the new capital of Andhra Pradesh. According to the sources, the Central Team is mulling on Dornal – Yerragondapalem stretch as Seemandhra Capital City.
The new proposal has been brought to the fore after considering demand for declaring Kurnool as capital of Andhra Pradesh. It is also learnt that the political leaders close to Delhi circles have purchased huge chunks of lands near Dornala and Yerragondapalem.
Dornala is located on Kurnool – Guntur – Bellary highway. The population of Dornala mandal is about 40000. Yerragondapalem falls in Prakasam district. The population of Yerragondapalem is around 20000. It is a mandal headquarter and the culture and life style of Yerragondapalem is more similar to Rayalaseema than the Coastal Andhra areas.
Palaparthi David Raju is present MLA of Yerragondapalem (SC Constituency). He won on the ticket of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). David Raju was a TDP President for Prakasam district unit and also served as an MLA of Santhanuthalapadu Constituency.
