It appears that Y S Sharmila, the president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, has made the decision to disclose the internal conflicts within her family, which have up till now been kept behind closed doors. On Thursday, she made a blatant attack on her brother and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy saying it was because of him that the family of YSR has been separated and not the Congress party, as asserted by him during the India Today conference at Tirupati on Wednesday. “Jagan Anna has made bold statements, claiming that God would teach the Congress a lesson and that the Congress has divided the state and his family. It is Jagan’s fault if the YSR family has become so divided, the woman stated. “Jan ruined the state and his family with his own hands,” she continued. The Almighty himself bears testimony to it. Both my mother and Vijayamma, YSR’s wife, have seen it happen. My whole family is here to witness it. Sharmila recounted that up to eighteen MLAs had left the Congress to support Jagan Mohan Reddy during his party’s turmoil. He declared he would appoint each of them as a minister. She questioned, “How many of them have become ministers?” She added that she and Vijayamma had campaigned for the MLAs by touring their constituencies after they resigned from office. “We fought hard to help them win. I started the padayatra when there were problems with the YSRCP. I braved the summer heat and severe rains to travel around the state, leaving my family and kids behind. I even traveled the state advocating for a united Andhra,” she said. “I was there for Jagan whenever he needed my help; I never asked questions or demanded anything in return. “I participated in the Bye-Bye Babu campaign even during the previous elections,” she stated.
Days are numbered for the Indian National Congress in Telangana. It is the TDP which ultimately get the benefit of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. There would be exodus to the TDP in as much as the fact that the TRS is a short lived party which even its ally INC has no faith on its honesty on merger or support. It is an open fact that people of Telangana region do not want the division of Telugu speaking people of Andhra Pradesh as there have been close relationships among people of AP be through marriage or familiarity or business. Installation of S. Jailpal Reddy would further add insult to the injury of the aspirants for the Chief Minister’s post.
