Korutla Assembly Constituency is a stronghold of Congress party till 2008. After the emergence of TRS, the constituency voters have shifted the loyalty towards TRS Party. The constituency is known for fertile lands and Sri Ram Sagar project passes through the constituency.
2018 and 2014 Election Results:
TRS candidate Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao has won the Korutla seat by defeating Congress candidate Komoreddy Ramulu. Vidyasagar Rao has secured a majority of 20,585 votes. Vidyasagar Rao is contesting again on TRS party ticket. Following are the statistics of 2014 elections:
Total votes polled: 1,50,601 (88.25%)
Votes for Vidyasagar Rao (TRS): 58,890 (29.1%)
Votes for Ramulu (Congress): 48,305 (28.57%)
Votes polled for Surabi Bhoom Rao (BJP): 35,806 (23.14%).
Political History of Korutla:
Senior Congress leader Juvvadi Rathnakar Rao and Shikari Vishvanatham of TDP have dominated the Old Buggarm assembly segment. Juvvadi elected twice in 1999 and 2004 and also worked as a Minister. From 2008, Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao thrice elected as MLA in 2009-10, 2010-2014 and 2014-2018.

Korutla Assembly segment was created by merging Old Buggaram segment in 2008. Korutla, Medipalli, Mallapur and Ibrahimpatnam mandals comes under the purview of this constituency. Korutla is a part of Nizamabad Lok Sabha Constituency.
Voters and Population:
According to 2011 Census, Korutla Constituency has a population of 3,09,957. Out of these, male (1,87,627) and female (1,85,454). As per summery revision of electoral 2017, Korutla segment has 1,91,394 voters. Male voters are 1,08,224 and female voters are 1,05,103.
