There has been widespread clamor for the induction of TDP National General Secretary, Nara Lokesh into the cabinet of Andhra Pradesh Government. The only son of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been in the news and maintaining silence over his likely foray into direct politics.
Nara Lokesh is known for his organisational skills in the TDP circles. Ministers such as Prathipati Pulla Rao, Ganta Srinivas Rao and Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, have been rooting for Lokesh’s induction. The TDP MLC Buddha Venkanna has already offered his seat to make way for Lokesh.
This will be a real test for Lokesh to showcase his skills in the party and government. He has to make his ways into the Party to become successor to his father CM. Though there is no revolt in the family to Lokesh’s induction, the opposition parties may slam Naidu for his nepotism.
It will be a convenient affair for TDP to bring Lokesh into cabinet as many states in India are being governed by the sons of the previous leaders. Akhilesh Yadav, Stalin in Tamilnadu, Thakarays in Maharashtra, Jagan Mohan Reddy in AP, KTR in Telangana are a few examples of family run politics / governments in India.
