It is official – AP employees must move to Vijayawada by 1 June 2016

Now it is official. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued orders to end uncertainty over the shifting of administration from Hyderabad to Amaravati / Vijayawada. The GO says that all the AP employees residing in Hyderabad and other places of Telangana have to shift to Vijayawada by 1st June 2016.

The new AP Secretariat will start functioning from new CRDA regions / Amaravati from 1st June 2016. All the departments that are located in Hyderabad Secretariat have to move to Amaravati by the deadline.

It is informed that 33 departments and over 80 heads of departments (HoDs) will have to move to Amaravati / Vijayawada. It is estimated that about 22000 – 25000 employees will have to shift to Vijayawada with the latest AP Government orders.

The employees who settled in Hyderabad and those children pursuing higher education in Hyderabad may feel it difficult to move to Vijayawada. Escalating residential costs in Vijayawda also a cause of concern for many employees. Employees left with 2-3 years of service may seek VRS instead of moving to Vijayawada at the moment.
