TRS supporters have swept first phase panchayat elections held in Telangana on 21st January 2019. Elections were conducted for 4470 village panchayats in the first phase out of which 2606 were won by the supporters of TRS party.
Congress improves:
Congress party has won 906 panchayats in the first phase in Telangana. This is better performance of the party comparing with recent assembly elections. Surprisingly, BJP has stood at third place winning 67 panchayats. BJP has proved that it has better support in villages than TDP and left parties. CPM and TDP supporters have gained in 32 and 30 panchayats respectively.
90 percent polling:
Seleral districts have polled more than 90 percent polling in Telangana Panchayat elections 2019. Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Khammam, Rangareddy, Suryapet, Medak, Warangal Rural and Siddipet were polled more than 90 percent votes and women voter turn out is higher than men voters.
Second and third phase of Panchayat elections will be held on 25th and 30th January 2019 respectively. These are first panchayat elections in Telangana after the formation of new state.
