Dasari Narayana rao is a multi-faceted personality from Andhra Pradesh. He is a film personality with huge success ratio, politician, director, lyricist, producer, writer, publisher and also a journalist. He served as a minister of state for coal and mines in Central cabinet and was a member of Rajya Sabha from 2006 – 2012. He is not re-elected to Rajya Sabha by the Congress Party in 2012. Dasari’s parents are D. Sairaju and Shrimati Mahalaxmi. He born on 4 May 1947 at Palakole of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. He married Dasari Padma and they have two sons and one daughter. He was conferred Honorary Doctorate by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam recently. His permanent address is at H. No. 8-2- 574/A, Road No. 7, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Dasari sereved as a Rajya Sabha member from 2000 – 2012 for two consecutive terms. Dasari was a founder editor of Udayam, a Telugu daily and Sivaranjani and Meghasandesam, both film journals. He also publisehd Bobbilipuli, a Political weekly.
Dasari Narayana Rao has directed more than 150 films and received various state and national level awards. His most popular and award winning films are Thatha Manavadu, Samsaram Saagaram, Swargam Narakam, Megha Sandesam, Kante Koothurne Kanu etc. He received prestigious Raghupati Venkaiah Award by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh in 1991.
