Polavaram is a Assembly Constituency in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The constituency is reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Tellam Balaraju, two terms MLA from the Constituency is gearing up to contest on the ticket of YSR Congress Party. Balaraju won the seat in 2004 and 2009 Assembly Elections. He was disqualified on the grounds of anti party activities. He is a loyal of YSRCP and candidates of that party in bye elections to be held on 12th June 2012.
The Congress Party has finally decided to field Parvati from Polavaram. It is reported that Kavuri Sambasiva Rao has recommended the name of Parvathi. Earlier it has preferred fielding Bojji Dora from Polavaram Constituency. He was contested earlier as an independent candidate. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has announced Modiyam Srinivas as its candidate for the Polavaram by-election. TDP president Chandrababu Naidu has recently toured the Constituency in support of his party’s candidate.
