Profile of Botcha Satyanarayana – Cheepurupalli

Botcha Satyanarayana is a strong politician in the Congress Party from Vizianagaram district. He has command over the party in the district with his family members are also in active politics. His wife, Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi is representing Vizianagaram Parliamentary Constituency while his brother Botcha Appla narasaiah is representing Gajapathinagaram Assembly Constituency. Botcha Satya Narayana was a strong follower of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. He served as Minister for Panchayat Raj and Marketing and presently held the the ministry of Transport. He has shifted his loyalties after the death of YSR and turned as strong opponent of Y.S. Jagan.

Botcha also surprised many by supporting the cause of Telangana statehood. Some commentators opined that his stand on Telangana issue could be a ploy to get support from the party leaders of the region for his nomination as PCC chief. Sattibabu, as he is called by his followers and fans, is a strong contender for President post of PCC. He was elected to Parliament from Bobbili Constituency in 1999 and shifted to Cheepurupalli Assembly Constituency from 2004 elections.
