Ms Renuka Chowdary, known as fire brand woman politician in Andhra Pradesh has been elected to Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh. She is presently serving as official spokesperson of the Congress party. Renuka Chowdary is known to be a good political manager at the Delhi Circles. This is Renuka’s third stint as member of the Rajya Sabha. Other prominent leaders elected to Rajya Sabha in 2012 from AP are Palvai Govardhan Reddy, Chiranjeevi and Rapolu Anand Bhaskar. Renuka belongs to politically active district, Khammam. She has began her political career with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Her first political positions was municipal corporator in Hyderabad. She rose to top positions in TDP in a short span with her out spoken and organising skills. Renuka Chowdary has become TDP Rajya Sabha member for two consecutive terms in 1986 and again in 1998.
Renuka joined in the Congress Party in 1998 and elected from Khamma Parliamentary constituency in 1999 Lok Sabha Elections. She was reelected in 2004 Lok Sabha elections from the same constituency on the Congress party ticket. Renuka Chowdary lost to Nama Nageswara Rao of TDP in 2009 Lok Sabha elections. She also served as Union Minister in two Governments.
