The Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has announced that second phase of Pulse Polio Immunisation for children in the age group of 0-5 years will be administered on 27th February 2011. Health Minister Dr. D.L. Ravindra Reddy informed the media that After the second phase on 27th February, health workers shall visit the houses and conduct door to door campaign and immunisation on 28th February and 1st March 2011.
There are 63766 pulse polio immunisation centers in the state. Another 1864 mobile polio immunisation centers also participate in the programme. There are 1,00,00437 children in the state in the age group of 0-5 years.
First phase of the immunisation will be held on 23rd January 2011. Health Workers will go to the homes on 24th and 25th January to cover more children in the programme. On 26th January, door to door immunisation will be conducted in Hyderabad, Vizag, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Guntur, Kurnool and Warangal municipalities.
