The Election Commission of India has announced complete schedule for Vidhan Sabha Elections 2012 in Himachal Pradesh. The hill state will go for polls on 4th November 2012, much ahead of the counting of votes scheduled to be taken up on 20th December 2012. Here are important dates for Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2012:

1) Release election notification: October 10, 2012.
2) Last date for filing nominations: October 17, 2012.
3) Scrutiny of the nominations: October 18, 2012.
4) Last date for withdrawal of candidature / nomination: 20 October 2012.
5) Counting of votes / Announcement of Results: 20 December 2012.

Himachal Pradesh has 68 Legislative Assembly constituencies. State chief Electoral Officer Narinder Chauhan has informed that the entire election process shall be completed by 24 December. 17 seats are reserved for SCs and 3 seats for STs.
