Amaravathi has come into limelight as a proposed new capital for Andhra Pradesh State. The new AP government seems to have slowly zeroing on the spiritual town to make its dream capital. The areas adjoining Amaravathi, Tadikonda, Achampet and Mangalagiri would be the capital regions of AP. Amaravathi is located at 35 KM from Guntur.
It is proposed to construct huge bridges joining Guntur and Krishna districts. The government is contemplating to realise the idea of big capital. This may not possible at Guntur – Mangalagiri – Vijayawada region as the availability of government land will be a big problem. It is also observed that the Government is not willing to disturb Nagarjuna University.
