The AICC (All India Congress Committee) has announced list of candidates for Assembly Elections 2018. Congress party has released candidates with 103 old faces out of the 122 candidates list. In all, the Congress party has favoured the existing candidates for the next elections in May 2018.
42 Lingayats:
As per the caste calculations, Congress has fielded 42 Lingayats, 39 vokkaligas, 52 OBCs, 35 SCs, 17 STs for reserved constituencies, 15 muslims, 7 brahmins, 6 reddy lingayats and 2 each from Jain and Christian communities.
There is huge revolt within the Congress after the release of list. Several new entrants have been secured seats in the place of senior leaders in the party. BR Patil, Satish Sail, G Manjunath, SN Subba Reddy, Mankala Subba Vaidy, Anil Kumar are the recent entrants who got tickets of Congress party.
