Khairatabad Assembly Constituency is one of the prestigious segment for all political parties. The constituency is part of Secunderabad Lok Sabha Constituency. The constituency was created in 1967. It was represented for a long term by P Janardhan Reddy (known as PJR). It comes under Hyderabad district of Telangana.

Dominated by PJR:
Khairatabad Assembly Constituency is known for the dominance of PJR family. PJR himself won 5 times from this segment. TDP won this seat only once, that is in 1999. CBI Ex-Chief K Vijaya Ramarao has won from TDP in 1999 Assembly elections. P Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, son of PJR got elected after the death of PJR in 2008. In 2009 elections, Congress fielded Danam Nagender and won the seat.

2014 Elections:
In this elections, BJP won the seat by alliance with TDP. C. Ramachandra Reddy of BJP has secured 37.3 percent votes against 22.7 votes of Danam Nagender of Congress Party.
2019 Scenario:
TRS has not announced its candidate yet for Khairatabad Constituency. Nagender is likely to secure the seat. Daughter of PJR, P Vijaya Reddy is also expecting seat from TRS. She contested in 2014 on YSRCP ticket and lost the elections. It is also a prestigious segment for Congress – TDP alliance. Ramachandra Reddy will be fielded by BJP again for the second term.
