Palair Assembly Constituency Profile – Khammam District of Telangana

Palair Assembly Constituency has been a Congress stronghold for a long time. It is part of Khamma Lok Sabha Constituency and covers Kusumanchi, Thirumalayapalem, Khammam Rural and Nelakondapalle mandals. Thummala Nageswara Rao is contesting again from Palair Assembly Constituency on TRS ticket.

Congress dominance:

Congress party dominated the politics in Palair constituency since its inception. It won 10 elections. The constituency was previously reserved for SC and later converted to general seat in 2009 elections.

2016 By-Elections:

Congress candidate, Ramreddy Venkat Reddy won in that election. He was dead in 2016 and by-election has held in the same year. In a surprise verdit, Tummala Nageswara Rao of TRS has won over Venkat Reddy’s widow R Sucharita Reddy.

2014 Election:

In 2014 Assembly elctions, Ramireddy Venkata Reddy of Congress defeated Baby Swarna Kumari Maddineni of TDP by a margin of 21,863 votes. Venkat Reddy won this segment five timers.
