Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy is a former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is very senior politician in the Congress Party. He belongs to Nellore district but has contested and won from Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha Constituency in 2004 Parliament Elections. His wife, Nedurumalli Rajya Lakshmi was a Minister in the cabinet of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Janardhana Reddy is not much active in the politics these days as he is in his Eighties. Parents of Janardhan Reddy are N. Subbarami Reddy and Smt. Seshamma. He was born on 20-02-1935 at Vakadu in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. He was married to N. Rajya Lakshmi on 25 May 1962 and they have four sons. Janardhan Reddy studied B.A., B.Ed. and Trained in Basic Education, a Gandhian Concept. He was educated at famous V.R. College, Nellore and Government College of Education, Nellore and Government College of Basic Education, Pentapadu, West Godavari District (Andhra Pradesh). His permanent address is at Janapriya, 6-3-1109/2 ,Raj Bhavan Road, Somajiguda, Hyderabad.
Janardhan Reddy held various key positions in the Congress Party and Governments. He was a member of Rajya Sabha during 1972-78 and Secretary of PCC (I), AP during 1978-79. He served as MLA and cabinet minister for Revenue, Industries, Power and Agriculture in AP Government during 1978-84. He was President of PCC (I) during 1988-89 and elected to AP Assembly for the period 1989-94 and again became Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Higher Education. He was Chief Minister during 1990-92 and later entered into national politics.
Janardhan Reddy was elected to Lok Sabha for the first time in 1998 and re-elected in 1999 and 2004 Parliament elections. He served as a member in the committees on Home Affairs, Judicial Reforms, Human Resource Development, Power etc. He may not contest in the direct elections in the future.
