Jai Telangana! Jayaho Telangana! What a salary hike! Even big corporate CEOs can not dare to dream this much salary hike. The Zilla Parishat Chairperson (ZP Chairperson) in Telangana, who is drawing Rs. 7500 per moth as salary till the date will get Rs. 1 lakh per month from 1st April 2015. Moreover, this is not called as salary, it is just honorarium for their service to the public. Following are details of latest salaries for local bodies representatives:
1) Village Sarpanch: Rs. 5000 Per month (earlier Rs. 1000 – 1500)
2) MPTC Member: Rs 5000 (earlier Rs. 750)
3) Mandal Parishad President (MPP): Rs. 10000 (earlier Rs. 1500)
4) ZPTC Member: Rs. 10000 (Earlier Rs. 2250)
5) ZPTC Chairperson: Rs. 1,00,000 (earlier Rs. 7500)
The positions are purely political and all the members and chairpersons usually belongs to political parties. They are insignificant in the political ladder at the state level but crucial at the local level. That might be the reason to feed them with public money!
With these hikes, the Telangana Government will be spending more than Rs. 100 crores per annum for the salaries of Sarpanches, ZPTC members and chairpersons. More over, the entire salary / honorarium will be drawn from Government accounts. Earlier, the local bodies used to share 50 percent of the honorarium.
