Municipalities, Corporations and Panchayat Elections in Andhra Pradesh 2011

The State Election Commission has started exercise for the smooth conduct of elections to Municipalities and Corporations in Andhra Pradesh. The term of the present local administrative bodies of 93 Municipalities and 11 Corporations in the state will end very soon. The Chief Electoral Officer has already indicated concerned officials and municipal commissioners to make arrangements for the Municipalities and Corporations elections.

The Election Commissions has asked the officials to prepared voter lists based on Wards as per the lists prepared as on 1st January 2011. The voter lists will be displayed for the scrutiny of voters in the offices of Panchayats, Manadal Revenue Offices, Municipal and Revenue Divisional Offices.

On the other hand, the term of Panchayat Sarpanches (Village Local Bodies) also will be expired soon. The Election Commission is also thinking of conducting Panchayat Elections soon after the expiry of present panel members. The local bodies elections in Andhra Pradesh are going to be much interesting with the developments such as formation of YSR Congress Party by YS Jagan, merger of PRP with the Congress and the rise of TRS in Telangana as a dominant force. The parties will try to show their grassroots strength through these elections.
