Narendra Modi was born in Wadnagar of Mehasana district in Gujarat on 17 September 1950. His parents are Damodar Das Mulchand Modi and Hira Ben. He studied post graduation in Political Science.
He came from an ordinary family in Gujarat. He started his political career as Pracharak in RSS and was trained in Nagpur. Later, he served in ABVP and joined in BJP in 1987. He played key role in bringing the BJP into power in Gujarat.
He became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 replacing Keshubhai Patel. He won the elections in 2002, 2007 and 2012 and became Chief Minister for consecutive terms. Presently he is the PM candidate of BJP for 2014 Lok Sabha general elections.
