Vinukonda as Capital of Andhra Pradesh

Vinukonda - Guntur district Vinukonda (Guntur District) is the latest entry into the talk of Capital City of Andhra Pradesh. The Eenadu newspaper has reported on 26th July 2014 that the AP Government is considering the forest lands in and around Vinukonda area for the capital city. Vinukonda is nearer and almost center to the Prakasam, Kurnool and Guntur district headquarters.

Vinukonda is about 80 Kms away from Guntur town. It is a municipality in the Guntur district. The town has rail and road connectivity from Guntur and Prakasam district centers. Vinukonda is an Assembly Constituency and presently represented by GVSR Anjaneyulu of TDP.

Total population of Vinukonda is about 60000 and around 250 – 260 Kms away from Hyderabad. The airport at Gannavaram (Krishna district) will be the nearest air travel facility from Vinukonda.

The Guntakal – Nandya Railway division passes through Vinukonda. The forest areas around Vinukonda cover mandals and villages such as Eepur, Kondramutla, Karampudi, Gurajala etc. The area is also known for Moist activity to some extent.
