Last Date for Aadhaar Linking Extended – Supreme Court Latest Judgement

In a major judgement, the Supreme Court of India has extended the last date for linking Aadhaar number with various services offered by Government and Private service providers. The court also asserted that Aadhaar is must for only availing subsidy schements of the Central and State Governments.

With this, people can now simply ignore the frequent alert messages from Banks and Mobile service providers to link their numbers with Aadhaar. The SC order will be in vogue till the final judgement.

The Supreme Court has indefinitely extended the previous deadline of March 31 for linking Aadhaar with bank accounts, PAN, mobile phone numbers, and various other services. The UIDAI has clarified that Aadhaar is still mandatory to open new bank accounts and applying for Tatkal passports.

Aadhaar is also mandatory to avail benefits under schemes funded by the Government of India from the consolidated fund of India. The SC has also ruled previously that the CBSE would not insist on Aadhaar for NEET and other all-India examinations.
